TotalEnergies extends its “Helmet 4 Life” program to the mountainous provinces of Vietnam, benefited 200 motorists
Vietnam, Lao Cai province, 25 November 2023 – Following the successful launch of the “Helmet 4 Life” program on 31 October in Ho Chi Minh City, TotalEnergies Vietnam is extending its program to the community in Lao Cai, a mountainous province in North Vietnam. 650 helmets were given in this year.
More than 15 TotalEnergies volunteers travelled from Ho Chi Minh City to Lao Cai to conduct a series of road safety sessions in five schools across two days. A total of 200 helmets were distributed to the teachers and education workers from five schools.
The schools included: Trung Leng Ho High School & Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities; Trung Leng Ho Kindergarten; Muong Hum Kindergarten School; Trinh Tuong Primary School for Ethnic Minorities and Trinh Tuong Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities in Lao Cai province.
“The mountainous terrain coupled with poor road conditions often poses dangers to road users, especially when they travel long distances from point to point. To safeguard the safety of the motorists living in the area while on the roads, we want to leverage the “Helmet 4 Life” program to enable people here access to quality helmets,” shared Ms Astrid DASSONVILLE, Country Chair, TotalEnergies in Vietnam.
"The teachers at remoted schools in the mountainous Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province, were delighted and excited to be given high-quality helmets. The helmet will become a companion for teachers going to school every day. Through lessons and educational activities, teachers and schools will increase propaganda and education for pupils and parents to wear helmets, ensuring safety when participating in traffic." Mr Tran Xuan Thu, Principal of Trung Leng Ho Primary & Secondary Ethnic Boarding School.
“Helmet 4 Life” is a global initiative that aims to provide 100,000 motorcycle helmets, compliant with the most stringent safety standards, in 40 countries across three continents (Africa, Asia and the Americas). In addition, each country will conduct localized road safety awareness sessions focusing on motorized two-wheelers.
