About Exploration & Production
Exploration & Production conducts TotalEnergies' oil and natural gas exploration, development and production operations. We do this more safely, efficiently and innovatively, in order to meet the needs of a growing world population and provide affordable, reliable and clean energy for the longer term. TotalEnergies, one of the leading companies in deep offshore and liquefied natural gas and with strong positions in the Middle East, Africa and the North Sea, produced 3 million barrels of oil equivalent per day in 2019.
Our activity
TotalEnergies Exploration & Production Asia Pacific is present in 10 countries in the region and holds a portfolio consisting quasi exclusively of gas assets which contribute to around 10% of TotalEnergies' gas production.
Australia is the new stronghold of Asia Pacific with two major LNG producing projects namely Gladstone LNG and Ichthys, located in the Queensland Eastern Australia and offshore Browse Basin part of the Northwest shelf respectively. These two projects contribute to more than 50% of overall production in Asia Pacific.
One of our most exciting current challenges concerns Papua New Guinea (PNG), where we are a key operator and actor. This new LNG project will strengthen the position of TotalEnergies in the long term as one of the top LNG players worldwide and more specifically in the Asia Pacific where Papua LNG meets the continuous regional growing gas demand.
We are also active in China on unconventional tight gas, with the South Sulige field being developed in cooperation with PetroChina. Additionally, There are historical assets in Myanmar, Brunei and Thailand, where we have been involved in development and production activities for more than 20 years.
On the exploration side, TotalEnergies Exploration & Production Asia Pacific’s portfolio is dynamic with promising deep offshore blocks in PNG, Myanmar and Malaysia.
