TotalEnergies celebrates its 100th anniversary!

On March 28, 1924, the forerunner of TotalEnergies – the Compagnie française des pétroles (the French Petroleum Company) – was created.

In the aftermath of the First World War, France was a country with almost no oil reserves and realized that it was entirely dependent on British and American oil companies for its supply. It was aware of the urgent need for access to petroleum resources as a matter of national security. This would be the mission entrusted to the Compagnie française des pétroles.

Alongside our customers and partners and guided by the pioneering spirit that has driven us since our origins, we are ready to support the energy transition, to be one of its key players and to reinvent ourselves again and again.
