TotalEnergies deploy essential resources to preserve biodiversity and the sustainability of ecosystems, everywhere we operate in close partnership with local communities. As part of TotalEnergies Foundation’s focus on “Climate, Coastal Areas and Oceans”, we support biodiversity-related awareness initiatives, as well as youth education and research actions concerning the environment.

In Singapore, we promote biodiversity-related awareness initiatives including partnership with Embassy of France, the Lee Kong Chian National History Museum, and Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle to publish two books “Voyageurs, Explorateurs et Scientifiques: The French and Natural History in Singapore” in 2019 and “Diard & Duvaucel: French Natural History Drawings of Singapore and Southeast Asia” in 2021.
The books, featuring the works of Pierre Diard and Alfred Duvaucel who accompanied Sir John Stamford Raffles during his journeys to Singapore in 1819, detailed the beginnings of Singapore’s natural history and the rich visual stories of the flora and fauna in Singapore. The book launches have been included in VOilah! France Singapore Festivals, enriching France-Singapore relations.
" We are immensely proud to support this bilingual publication showcasing the works of the two French naturalists. Through this, we aim to contribute to our host community in Singapore, and to promote France-Singapore cultural dialogue and heritage, one of the key priorities of TotalEnergies Foundation. "

Why it Matters
Humans depend on other species to provide a wide variety of services, from producing oxygen to pollinating flowers. Preserving biodiversity promotes the development and well-being of every living organism. Yet biodiversity is sometimes threatened. Significant legislative changes are under way to address this problem at both the national and international levels. TotalEnergies is not simply interested in complying with regulatory requirements. For us, preserving biodiversity everywhere we operate means preserving the heritage and lifestyle of each local community.
